CHICAGO — The popular Logan Square Farmer’s Market, known for attracting large crowds every Sunday, is back this weekend after being canceled due to overcrowding. Vendors received an email about the reopening Thursday night. Logan Square Chamber of Commerce confirmed the market's return in a statement Friday morning. The farmer’s market runs from mid-May through the end of October and stretches along Logan Boulevard from Milwaukee Avenue and Whipple Street. More than 66,000 Illinoisans can expect a check from the state’s Unclaimed Property program Ald. (NewsNation) — About 32,000 veterans have had disability claims submitted through the Veterans Affairs website delayed because of a technical issue.A spokesperson for the Department of Veterans Affairs told NewsNation that some of these claims go back to 2018. "Specifically, these claims were not automatically routed for processing once submitted, leading to a delay for these veterans," Terrence Hayes, VA press secretary, said in an emailed statement to NewsNation.Claims were delayed after a technical issue with the integration of two systems on the VA.gov website. Hayes said this affected about one-half of 1% of all claims submitted. According to Hayes, the Department of Veterans Affairs implemented a solution in February "shortly after" the issue was discovered. SUMMIT COUNTY, Colo. — Authorities are searching for a man accused of performing lewd acts while watching women along the southwest shoreline of Dillon Reservoir.The Summit County Sheriff’s Office said between Aug. 21 and 23, it received three reports of a suspicious person near the shoreline of Giberson Bay and the southwestern edge of Heaton Bay Campground. In each incident, the suspect was spotted standing in the trees masturbating and watching females on the lake, the sheriff’s office said.The man was seen between 11 and 11:30 a.m. all three days.The suspect is described as a man in his 20s, standing about 5 feet, 9 inches to 6 feet tall. GARYVILLE, La. (AP) — Residents within two miles of a south Louisiana refinery were ordered to evacuate Friday after a fire broke out, sending a tower of thick black smoke into the sky.No injuries were reported and emergency responders said the fire was contained to the sprawling Marathon Petroleum facility in Garyville, about 30 miles (48 kilometers) northwest of New Orleans. Air quality monitoring was also taking place, officials said.Photos from above showed orange flames leaping into the air beneath the dark cloud of smoke as emergency crews sprayed long arcs of water onto the inferno.
